Accessibility Statement

RootControl is built by people who think a landscape company shouldn't have to fight its software. The same principle applies to this marketing site: it should be usable by everyone who shows up, including people who navigate with a keyboard, use a screen reader, prefer reduced motion, or rely on high-contrast settings. This page describes how we approach accessibility, what we've done, what we're still working on, and how to tell us when something isn't working.

1. Our commitment

ShelfControl LLC ("RootControl", "we", "us") is committed to making rootcontrol.io accessible to the broadest possible audience. We treat accessibility as part of building the site, not a checklist run at the end.

2. Standard we target

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard most U.S. federal agencies and most major SaaS companies target, and it is the level we aim to meet across every page on this site.

3. Current conformance status

Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that most of the content meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA, but some parts of the site may not yet fully conform. The site has not been independently audited; the status above reflects our internal self-assessment as of the date at the top of this page.

4. Accessibility features on this site

The following are built into every page:

• Skip-to-content link: the first focusable element on every page jumps a keyboard user past the navigation and straight to the main content.
• Semantic HTML landmarks: <nav>, <main>, <section>, and <footer> are used so screen readers can navigate by region.
• Heading hierarchy: a single <h1> per page with descendant <h2> / <h3> levels that reflect the document's actual structure.
• Alt text on meaningful images: decorative images use aria-hidden or empty alt attributes so screen readers don't announce them as noise.
• Keyboard navigation: the mobile menu, FAQ accordions, pricing billing toggle, and feature-page interactives are reachable and operable by keyboard.
• Visible focus indicators: interactive elements show a focus outline when reached by Tab.
• Reduced-motion respect: animations and scrolling transitions collapse to near-instant when prefers-reduced-motion: reduce is set in your system or browser.
• Form labels: every form input on the contact form has a programmatically associated label.
• Color contrast: body text, headings, and interactive controls are designed against the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
• Plain language: we keep marketing copy in plain English; jargon is defined or avoided.
• Responsive layout: every page is designed to work from a 320-pixel mobile viewport up through wide desktops, without requiring horizontal scrolling at standard zoom.

5. Known limitations

We try to be honest about what isn't perfect yet:

• No formal third-party audit: the site has not yet been audited by an external accessibility firm. We rely on internal review, automated tooling, and feedback from users.
• Third-party embeds: the contact form includes a Cloudflare Turnstile widget for spam protection. Its accessibility is governed by Cloudflare. If the widget creates a barrier for you, please contact us — there are alternative ways to reach us listed on the Contact page.
• Interactive feature-page demos: some marketing pages include interactive mockups (e.g. the property-map slider, the Whiteboard demo). These are illustrative and may not yet have full assistive-technology parity with the actual product. If you'd like a description of what a demo conveys, contact us and we'll walk you through it.
• PDF or image-based content: any downloadable PDFs or screenshots on the site may not have full assistive-technology support. If you encounter one you need access to, contact us and we'll provide an accessible alternative.

This list is not exhaustive. If you find a barrier we haven't listed, please tell us — the section below explains how.

6. The product itself

This page covers rootcontrol.io, the public marketing site. The RootControl application (the product our customers log into) is a separate codebase with its own accessibility considerations. If you are a current customer or evaluator and need accessibility information about the product, please contact us at the address below and we will respond directly.

7. Technical specifications

Accessibility on this site depends on the following technologies working in combination with your browser and any assistive technologies you use:

• HTML5
• CSS
• JavaScript (used for progressive enhancement; core content and navigation work with JavaScript disabled wherever possible)
• WAI-ARIA attributes where native HTML semantics are insufficient

8. Compatibility

The site is designed to be compatible with current versions of major desktop and mobile browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and the screen readers commonly paired with them (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack). It is not designed for browsers more than three major versions out of date.

9. Feedback and reporting a barrier

If you encounter a barrier on this site — anything that prevents you from accessing information or completing a task — we want to know. Please email hello@rootcontrol.io with:

• The page URL where the barrier appeared
• A description of the problem
• The browser, operating system, and any assistive technology you were using

We aim to respond within five business days with an acknowledgment and a plan, and to remediate substantive barriers within a reasonable timeframe based on severity.

10. Formal complaints

If we have not addressed your concern after you've contacted us, you may escalate by writing to ShelfControl LLC at the address below and marking your communication "Attn: Accessibility." We will respond in writing.
